Onboarding
The first time you sign in, TCG Inventory walks you through a short onboarding wizard ("Personalize your experience") — four quick questions, usually under a minute, that tune the app to your collection and pricing preferences. You can skip it at any time and revisit your choices later in Settings.
If you've already completed or skipped onboarding, visiting /onboarding again simply redirects you to Home. A "Pick up where you left off" banner appears on Home if you skipped it, with a Continue button to resume.
The steps
- Welcome — a warm hello: we're excited you're here, the goal is to make managing a TCG collection easier so you can focus on the joy of collecting, and feedback / bugs / wishes are always welcome because the project lives with the community. It then invites you to get onboarded, with a note that the next few questions can be changed later in Settings.
- Which TCGs are you collecting? — pick every game you collect from Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Lorcana, Star Wars Unlimited, and Flesh and Blood. There's also a free-text field for any other TCG not listed yet (e.g. "Riftbound"). You can change this anytime in Settings.
- Conditions and prices — two quick choices, both pre-selected to Cardmarket:
- Which condition labels to show: Cardmarket (Mint, Near Mint, Excellent, …) or TCGPlayer (Near Mint, Lightly Played, …)
- Which price source you mainly use: Cardmarket prices, TCGPlayer prices, or Card Trader
- Roughly how many cards do you own? — pick an estimate from ranges between 5,000 and 1,000,000+. The smallest range is pre-selected.
- Last touches — the defaults the app will use for your collection. Every one of them ships with a sensible value, so you can go straight to Finish:
- Default card language — used when a scanned card has no language of its own (English by default)
- Default condition — applied when the scanner doesn't send a grade; labels follow the condition scheme you picked in step 3, and "No default" is an option
- App background — pick an atmosphere for the app shell. Locked themes unlock with your plan or Kickstarter status. Your pick previews live and is saved when you finish the wizard.
Finishing or skipping
- Finish saves your answers, shows a "Welcome aboard!" confirmation, and takes you to Home with a one-time confetti celebration.
- Skip for now applies sensible defaults instead, with a note that you can revisit everything in Settings. You can also press Esc at any point to skip.
Finishing the wizard applies your answers immediately: the condition-label scheme, your default language and condition, the app background, and your favourite TCG (which becomes the game the app opens on). Foil treatment stays on the non-foil default unless you change it later in Settings.
Your marketplace answer also sets the price source used across the app. Cardmarket prices is the default; TCGPlayer prices switches the app to USD. Card Trader is saved as a preference; display prices stay on Cardmarket until that source is available. You can change the source anytime in Settings, and a later change always wins over the onboarding answer.
